Every love story has an origin.
This one has a body count.
This is the story of a woman who falls for exactly the wrong person, in exactly the right way — and of what she becomes by the time she understands what she’s fallen into. Told in fractured flashback from a diner booth, where a woman sits, unnervingly calm, telling a story to someone who isn’t quite who we think.
Love’s Dark Origin Story is in pre-production now and raising funds to bring it to the screen.
My Work So Far
My Vision.
My vision for this film starts with a simple rule: nothing dark should announce itself. If the audience can see the turn coming, we’ve already lost the thing that makes this story worth telling.
That means building the film out of restraint — a story told mostly in kitchens, cars, and diner booths, where the camera stays close enough to catch what a character won’t say out loud. The lens itself becomes a character: locked down and observational when things are calm, and subtly shifting the moment someone starts to break from who they were.
Sound matters just as much as image here. This is a quiet film, and quiet only works if every pause and held silence is captured cleanly enough to carry weight — there’s nowhere for a mediocre mix to hide in a story this restrained.
Above all, I want this film to trust its audience. I’m not interested in signaling that something bad is coming — I want viewers to fall for these two people the way they fall for each other, so that when the story turns, it feels less like a twist and more like something they should have seen all along.
That’s the film I’m building. I’d love for you to help make it real.
